The Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) certifications - JAIIB, CAIIB, and DBF - are essential qualifications for banking professionals in India. Eligibility & Exam Dates
JAIIB: The exam is open to Ordinary Members of IIBF. Professionals working in banking and finance with an Institutional Member employer can apply. Visit the IIBF website for details.
CAIIB: Members who have completed JAIIB or Part 1 of the Associate Examination with no pending membership dues.
DB&F: DB&F exam is open only to non-members of IIBF who have passed 12th standard or completed BC/BF certification. Bank employees eligible for IIBF membership must appear for JAIIB, not DB&F. Results of ineligible candidates are liable for cancellation.
Exam Frequency: Exams are conducted twice a year, typically in May-June and Nov-December, with options for remote proctored online exams.
Syllabus, Eligibility & Exam Pattern
JAIIB: Candidates must clear four subjects: (Indian Economy & Indian Financial System, Principles & Practices of Banking, Accounting & Financial Management for Bankers, & Retail Banking & Wealth Management). Minimum passing marks: 50 out of 100 in each subject.
CAIIB: CAIIB consists of 4 compulsory papers and 1 elective of choice. Minimum passing marks: 50/100 or 45 in each with 50% aggregate in one attempt. Compulsory Papers are Advanced Bank Management, Bank Financial Management, Advanced Business & Financial Management, & Banking Regulations and Business Laws
DBF: Same syllabus as JAIIB but for non-bankers.
All exams JAIIB, CAIIB, and DB&F consist of 100 objective-type questions for 100 marks, including case studies. Exams are conducted online with no negative marking. Questions test knowledge, concepts, problem-solving, and case analysis.
